The much-talked about Vidyardhi Polikeka (student shout) at Kakatiya University at Warangal on Sunday exposed the caste differences in the Telangana movement.
The suppressed castes have been asking for their due share in the movement and had questioned the prerogative of the two dominant – Velama and Reddy – castes leading the struggle.
The MRPS founder chief, Manda Krishna Madiga, raised the question of domination of the upper castes in the Telangana movement.
To substantiate Manda Krishna’s charge, the students of Kakatiya University maintained absolute silence when Prof. Jayashankar, Prof. A Kodandaram, and writer and singer, Desipathi Srinivas. When the turn of Manda Krishna came, there was uproar among the students and some of them have started hurling water sachets and sand packets.
Even singer Srinivas was manhandled by some of the unidentified students. Surprisingly, the incident is seen as a conspiracy of anti-Telangana forces.
Manda Krishna alleges that KCR had instructed the Kakatiya University JAC leaders not to invite him, which exposed the caste bias of the TRS chief.
The “self-respect struggle” (as being claimed the Telangana leaders) is also witnessing the “self-respect struggle” of the suppressed castes. If the Telangana leaders justify their self-respect movement, they should also accept the self-respect demand of the suppressed classes. They should be given due chance, due opportunity and due representation in the movement.
