Aileen Campbell: Success of the Commonwealth Games—That the Parliament
commends the incredible achievements of Team Scotland at the Commonwealth Games on the
Gold Coast; recognises that this was Scotland's best ever away games and, by winning 44
medals, beat the previous medal tally of 29 in Melbourne in 2006; considers that this demonstrates
that Scottish sport is growing in strength and depth, with sportscotland and governing bodies of
sport working to support athletes, coaching and support staff, and believes that sustained
investment and commitment in the whole sporting system is vital to enable people of all ages,
backgrounds and abilities to regularly take part in sport and exercise.
