Chief Priest of the Tirumala temple Venkata Ramana Deekshitulu to question the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams Trust Board decision to retire archakas at age of 65.
After AV Ramana Dikshitulu levelled assertions of mistake, defilement, and absence of responsibility among TTD administrators in maintaining the conventional ethos and holiness of the sanctuary, TTD took a decision to retire priests of the temple who crossed 65 years of age.
Reacting to this, He said, TTD board has no powers to retire them. No one has the right to decide upon the priest’s inheritance right coming from generation to generation. He recalled that the Supreme Court had previously said on this matter.
He said he is going to fight legally. He demanded the government intervenes in other religions like it did with Hindu religion. Ramana prescribes that judging the age limit for the priests is wrong. Priests are not employees and alleged that they have been used as the attendees by the officials.
